The website Gothinkbig.co.uk has landed to help us youngsters get to our dream job…
GOTHINKBIG.CO.UK HAS LANDED
Bauer has teamed up with O2 to create GoThinkBig, a fresh perspective on work experience that’s set to help thousands of you people (just like you) with career opportunities. And this isn’t the first time O2 have done something like this, having previously set up O2 Think Big in 2010. The campaign has helped hundreds of young entrepreneurs like Viviane Williams set up their own organisations and get their careers started. We Found out why Viviane couldn’t have set up her own company, Wakeup campaign, without it’s help…
How did O2 Think Big help you set up your organisation?
It’s given me investment, mentoring and confidence and provided me with a great network of people who I can turn to for advice – other O2 Think Biggers!
Tell us more about Wakeup Campaign.
We fuse design and business to help deliver social change. We run sustainable fashion events, create graphic designs, use innovative guerrilla marketing, give talks and workshops at schools and universities, and create strategic work for social and sustainable corporations.
What events have you done?
We produced a photography exhibition for Christian Aid and this year we launched our sustainable fashion arm. Conscious Swap Shopping Events. We’re currently working with Boxpark in London to create a four-day-pop-up shop this December, so keep an eye out at wakeupcampaign.co.uk
What are your plans for the future?
To develop the Wakeup Campaign brand by working with more organisations and companies and creating their campaigns. We don’t want to be just London – centric, either – we want to have a presence all over the UK and eventually grow and develop internationally.
What advice would you give young people thinking of starting up their own initiative?
Do your research and test your idea. I ran a pop-up shop testing out of my concept and the information I got back was gold dust, so I treated it as a mini focus group. Also you need the confidence to do it – you won’t know if it will work unless you try.
What do you think about GoThinkBig? How important do you think work experience is?
It’s fantastic! It’s giving young people potential, hope and skills. It widens their networks, opening them up to the commercial world of work, and allows them to showcase their own talent. I did work experience and I believe it got me ready for the working world.
