Having a group of mates at work can transform the office from mundane to fun. So how do you make friends when you’re new?
1 Get involved. If they have regular Friday night drinks, go along.
2 Suggest going shopping, bowling or for a drink one lunchtime – don’t feel you have to wait to be asked.
3 Start up a lunch club, where once a week you get together for lunch and a gossip.
4 Don’t try to be friends with everyone at once. Aim to get to know one or two people first.
5 Don’t take it personally if you find it hard. It can take time for work colleague to become a work friend.
