This week…’How would your friends describe you?’
Tony Wilmot of staffbay.com explains how to handle that curve ball…
WHY DO THEY ASK THAT?
You might not realise it, but this is almost the same as a personality test. Throughout your interview, the interviewer will be noting down what key words you use about yourself, then will throw his question in to see if they tally with how you think your friends would describe you. After all, your answers will only reflect the attributes you’d like to think you have. For example, you’ve spent the time saying you’re determined, then they’ll be checking that’s one of your answers. If it’s not, they’ll figure out quickly that you’re a fake.
HOW DO YOU ANSWER?
Marry up what you’ve been saying throughout your interview with the answer you give to this question. Consistency is vital if you want to convince the interviewer that your genuine.
