This week,’What can you do for us that someone else can’t?’
Tony Wilmot of staffbay.com explains how to handle that curveball
WHY DO THEY ASK THIS?
The interviewer is trying to find out what makes you special. They want you to really stand out from the rest of the candidates and the staff already on their payroll.
HOW DO YOU ANSWER?
Before the interview, look at the job description and write down what qualities and skills you have that match it. In the interview, mimic the exact language and phrases they use on the original advert, then go on to give an example of a time you’ve delivered that in your current role. You need to show how your experiences will make your boss’ life easier. It’s also a chance to air some of your more quirky personality traits. For example, if you’re meticulous about fact checking, keeping the stationery cupboard stocked up or filing in invoices, be sure to add in these details.
(Please Note: The information is from the More Magazine article ‘So you want to be a Nurse’ in Issue 8th April 2013, I did not write this!)
